The city of oviedo

The capital of the Principality of Asturias is one of the most beautiful cities in northern Spain. Located at the foot of Mount Naranco, and surrounded by mountains with the Sierra del Naranco and the Sierra del Aramo, the city of Oviedo is a monumental city, dotted with magical and unique places that will not leave the traveller indifferent.

There are many attractions in this city, from its majestic Gothic cathedral to its pre-Romanesque monuments such as San Julián de los Prados, Santa María del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo, as well as more modern buildings such as the Calatrava Conference and Exhibition Centre, and countless statues, the most popular being those of Botero. 

A stroll through the old town is a must, where you can find many vestiges of Oviedo’s past, from a small fragment of the city wall, the Church of San Juan el Real, the City Hall itself, the Pescadería or the Plaza del Fontán.
